This site is meant to act as a connecting resource for ASP graduates around the world, to help us better organize these reunions without getting kicked off Facebook or offending the official ASP website. You should be able to get basic information here about reunions, as well as find contact information about other Alumni.
I threw my first ASP reunion simply because another alumni mentioned it should be done, and I’ve been glad ever since. It seems many people were equally charged up and moved by it…. at the risk of sounding corny, coming to the ASP events, for lack of a better way to explain it, seemed to reconnect us not only to each other, but to ourselves.
It became very apparent during the course of throwing these reunions how quickly we are able to make ourselves at home in any environment , hotel room, country, party, and it was no big deal. We are adapters, in a very special way, and collectively, it became quite forceful. Not to mention, there was no facebook, or internet, when we left school – so most of us left, and were GONE. I think it is fair to say, these feel much more like family reunions than school reunions (without the drama!) and we encourage you to attend, even if you think we are all crazy. Some spouses came, too, and the feedback was that everything the ASP spouse said made “more sense” after seeing us together. Other spouses elected to stay home – lest they be bored with our telling old stories.
Many, if not all of us, have families, careers, very full lives – indeed, but, to quote ‘80’s alumni Eric Coleman, “I feel more European in America, and more American in Europe…it’s like we belong nowhere and everywhere at the same time….”. So, even if you have a full life and a tremendous amount to do, we encourage you to take a short weekend and re-visit the part of yourself that probably shaped a great deal of who you are today. Not to mention, let everyone see you JUST ONCE without an ‘80s haircut.
